Dimming Relations for the Efficient Analysis of Concurrent Systems via Action Abstraction
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study models of concurrency based on labelled transition systems where abstractions are induced by a partition of the action set. We introduce dimming relations, i.e., notions of behavioural equivalence which are able to relate two models if they can match each other’s actions whenever they are in the same partition block. We show applicability to a number of situations of practical interest which are apparently heterogeneous but exhibit similar behaviors although manifested via different actions. Dimming relations make the models more homogeneous by collapsing such distinct actions into the same partition block. With our examples, we show how these abstractions permit reducing the state-space complexity from exponential to polynomial in the number of concurrent processes.

Software system verification is an efficient technique for ensuring the correctness of a software product, especially in safety-critical systems in which a small bug may have disastrous consequences. The goal of software verification is to ensure that the product fulfills the requirements. Studies show that the cost of finding and fixing errors in design time is less than finding and fixing the...

The solar photovoltaic (PV) energy is one of the most promising sources of energy, which has attracted many interests. Itis potentially the largest source of energy in the world and is capable to mitigategreenhouse gas (GHG) emissions significantly in comparison with fossil fuels.Location optimization of solar plants can play a vital role to rise the efficiency and performance of the solar PV s...
متن کاملComputing Behavioral Relations for Probabilistic Concurrent Systems
Behavioral equivalences and preorders are fundamental notions to formalize indistinguishability of transition systems and provide means to abstraction and refinement. We survey a collection of models used to represent concurrent probabilistic real systems, the behavioral equivalences and preorders they are equipped with and the corresponding decision algorithms. These algorithms follow the stan...

Specification of a concurrent system using CAOS (Concurrent Action Oriented Specifications) (CAOS) as illustrated by Bluespec Inc.’s Bluespec System Verilog provides a high abstraction level, effective concurrency management through atomicity, and powerful compilation to efficient RTL hardware. In this paper, we present two algorithms that make CAOS to RTL synthesis power-aware and produce RTL ...
متن کاملTrue Concurrent Stochastic Processes
In this work we present an algebraic framework for true concurrent stochastic processes. Concurrency is modelled using partial order relations. Markov processes are considered using an abstraction given by their excessive functions. Applications include embedded systems, as cardiac stimulators, encephalogram analysers and air traffic control systems. Copyright c ©2005 IFAC
